Application Assignment 3

 Section 1 

The person who I chose to describe write about in the entire history of the environment in the U.S would be Elon Musk. Technically and strictly speaking Elon Musk is one of the Biggest environmentalists we have seen in a little while. His electric car company attempts to pull the general population from driving gas-powered vehicles He does this by reducing the emissions coming from gas-powered vehicles. These cars a typically powered by combustion and introducing an electric motor would reduce if not get rid of this issue. To aid the environment he is donating over $100 million to fund a competition to see who can find new ways to remove carbon from air and water. It is stated that tesla the company is to do the right thing for the environment and to ensure that tesla maintains its position as a leading green company. Elon musk is mainly motivated by the expansion of his company through means which are safe for the environment, the planet, and the people living on it. This in turn is a pretty good example of someone who is defined as an environmentalist. Tesla company plans to roughly shake up the U.S auto industry and dramatically curb C02 emissions. The car brand has a ton of ambassadors with famous celebrities and people of importance using their cars for the benefit of the environment. Because of all of this information, Elon Musk would be considered an environmentalist and if anything a good one. 

Elon Musk 

As mentioned beforehand, Elon Musk is holding a competition to see who can find new ways to remove carbon from water and air. The math supporting this shows us that the world is in need of gigaton scale carbon removal in the coming decades in order to combat climate change. "The International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) estimates the need at approximately 10 gigatonnes of net CO2 removal per year by the year 2050 in order to keep the global temperature rise under 1.5 or 2C."     This is a reference to governments, communities, companies, and investors' four-year plan and competition to create and demonstrate solutions that can pull C02 directly from the atmosphere and oceans and store it carefully and successfully. At the time of the event, the environment has a ton of C02 and carbon scattered throughout the environment. We are the reason for the carbon levels and the human relationship continue on the path given then the global temperatures could rise by at least 6C.  This experiment plays a huge role in the reversal of what humans have already done to the environment. By continuing with this experiment the environment will become less burden by climate change and C02 emissions. The main process for carbon removal includes removing carbon from the atmosphere and locking it away for decades to come. This prevents the C02 emissions and things pulled from the atmosphere from escaping and returning to where they were before. Elon Musk has done a really good job at prioritizing the health and safety of the environment in this case. 

Carbon Dioxide Removal Options 

Although carbon removal from the atmosphere would have a very large effect on the world's environment, it would take a long time for the benefits come to into effect. this wouldn't be an immediate thing as it takes some time for carbon to be taken out of the atmosphere. As mentioned above it would take a long time due to the fact we are;t yet able to do this process efficiently. There might be some local things that people at Keene state might be able to do in order to assist with the removal of carbon from the air and our water. One way we could do this would be planting more trees, this would aid in the restoration of our climate. planting more trees would help us remove water from the environment and assist us in eliminating climate change.
